“I’ve recorded some videos on my MacBook Pro and I want to find the recordings on my Mac. Where do my screen recordings go on Mac?”
The screen recordings are saved in Desktop on your Mac by default, whether you use Screenshot or QuickTime Player to record videos. But on macOS Catalina and later, the screen recordings made with QuickTime Player will go to ~/Library/ScreenRecordings instead.
If you want to change the storage folder of the screen recordings on your Mac, you can follow the steps below:
Step 1. When you record a video via Screenshot or QuickTime, click Options in the Controls bar.
Step 2. In the Save to section, select an existing folder, such as Documents, or click Other Location to customize the storage path.
It’s worth mentioning that the preinstalled screen recorder on Mac only helps to record videos in MOV. If you prefer to record MP4 or other popular video formats, you will need a third-party tool such as SurFlex Screen Recorder. It allows you to customize the output video format, video quality, storage folder, and more, making it easy to screen record on Mac in any format you need.
